Casa Garuda is located in the heart of Italy, half way between Rome and Florence, on the Umbria/Tuscany border. It is part of the 600 hectare estate, the Tenuta Le Coste nature reserve. Dating to the early 1800's, this traditional Umbria farmhouse was part of the estate's sharecropping enterprise, and was originally restored in the 1990's and then again in 2003. The panorama afforded by its hilltop location reveals the ancient Etruscan village of Chiusi, the famous hotsprings village of Chianciano terme, Montepulciano surrounded by its vineyards, Cortona far to the north, and then in Umbria, the lake-side village of Castiglione del Lago, and Città della Pieve, a vibrant walled city and home to Perugino, teacher of Rafael. The estate itself consists of rolling fields of grain or sunflowers, forests and innumerable olive groves. There is a thriving year-round community here and plenty of wildlife: pheasants, wild boar, deer, and more ...
"Way beyond expectations"

"This small inn is on top of a large hill with the most beautiful 270 degree view spread before you, rolling hills, woods, fields, villages. The owners are extraordinary hosts, low-key, very knowledgeable, generous. This is a jewel in the heart of northern Italy--a bit hidden--but as I see others have said, our three day stay was the most peaceful of our month long trip."
